Food: Mocktails, Because Life’s Too Short for Boring Drinks (and Hangovers)

If you caught our post on how alcohol affects your brain and body—awesome, you’re already on track. If not, hit pause and give it a read here. But whether you’re taking a break from booze, cutting back, or just want a better-for-you option, these mocktails are for you.

Skip the alcohol, keep the fun.

Mocktails blend fresh fruit, sparkling water, and calming herbs into something that’s refreshing, flavorful, and totally hangover-free. At Coastal Fitness and Correction, we’re all about making healthy choices that still feel like a treat — and these drinks deliver.

Get your blender ready, grab some funky glasses, and invite a few friends for a DIY mocktail party. You can experiment with flavors, play mixologist, and hey, no one’s going to judge if you sneak a few tastes (or a lot).

The Good Stuff (a.k.a. What Goes Into a Great Mocktail)

Most mocktails start with the basics:

  • Fresh fruit juice

  • Sparkling water or soda water

  • Natural sweeteners (like honey or agave)

  • Calming herbs (like mint, chamomile, or lavender)

Easy, Refreshing Mocktails to Try

1. Citrus Sunrise Chill

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup fresh orange juice

  • 1/2 cup sparkling water

  • 1 tbsp grenadine

  • Ice cubes

  • Orange slice & cherry for garnish

Instructions:
Fill a glass with ice. Add orange juice and sparkling water. Slowly pour in the grenadine so it sinks to the bottom, creating that dreamy “sunrise” effect. Garnish and enjoy!

2. Minty Lavender Lemonade

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup lemonade (fresh or store-bought)

  • 1/2 tsp dried culinary lavender

  • 1 tsp honey (or to taste)

  • Sparkling water

  • Fresh mint leaves

  • Ice

Instructions:
Steep lavender in 2–3 tablespoons of hot water for 5–10 minutes, then strain. Mix the lavender water with lemonade and honey. Pour over ice, top with sparkling water, and toss in a few mint leaves. Refreshing and floral!

3. Lavender Lemon Chill-Out

Perfect for: Unwinding after a long day or impressing your friends with your herbaceous drink game.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice (about 2–3 lemons)

  • 1/2 cup honey or agave

  • 1 cup water

  • 1–2 tsp dried culinary lavender (or 1 tbsp fresh)

  • Sparkling water (to top it off)

  • Optional: a few drops of lemon balm tincture or CBD water (if approved by your doctor)

  • Ice

  • Lemon wheel & lavender sprig for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Make Lavender Syrup: Combine water, honey (or agave), and lavender in a small pot. Simmer gently, then remove from heat and steep for 10–15 minutes. Strain and cool.

  2. Build Your Mocktail: Fill a glass with ice. Add 2–3 tbsp of lavender syrup and the lemon juice.

  3. Add Extras: If using lemon balm or CBD (with doctor’s approval), add now.

  4. Top It Off: Pour sparkling water to fill the glass. Stir gently.

  5. Garnish: Add a lemon wheel and sprig of lavender. Sip slowly and feel fancy.
