Movement: Adding Motion to Everyday Life

There is a lot that goes on throughout your day that can lend itself to sedentary routine. We drive to work or school, we might sit at a desk to work all day, or we may sit down in the evening to enjoy time to relax and unwind. There are so many ways we can incorporate just small bits of movement back into our day to promote an active lifestyle. Consider these tips from ACE Fitness that implement more movement in your day!
Add physical activity where possible in your commute or errands
Consider whether you’re able to bike or walk to work. If not, park further away from the building and enjoy a longer walk. Take the stairs when possible. If you have errands or chores to run, plan out ways you can implement a little more movement.
Incorporate movement into your workday
Standing desks and walking pads have recently been implemented to combat sitting at a desk for a full workday. Judge whether these would work well for you. If not, set an alarm on your watch or phone to stand up every hour. Run to the restroom, grab some water, take out your lunch trash—find something that will help you get just a bit of movement.
Keep exercising
Maintain your exercise routine and stay active. Plan a well-balanced exercise routine that can help you meet your fitness goals and help you stay physically functional and mobile. Bring light activity to your days, like taking walks, playing with your children or pets, or just finding ways to actively be involved in your life.
Whatever it may be, there are so many ways to bring more movement into your life to promote an active lifestyle. At Coastal Fitness and Correction, we know how important functional mobility is as a part of your corrective exercise journey.
