Throughout any fitness journey, dedication can look different over time. One way to give yourself support through your corrective exercise journey is to build a strong support system. Here are some ways to build a strong network of people who will show up for you and support you.

Find an Accountability Partner

Even if you’re going through personal training or a 1:1 experience, find someone who is also committed to their own fitness journey. Meet up or chat once or twice a week to share how your own experience is going. Cheer on your partner and ask for help in turn when you’re feeling low on motivation. Knowing that you are not alone in your journey is going to help you stay committed and dedicated to your health and help you build a strong connection with someone who is also going through a similar experience.

Make Friends Where You Work Out

Talk to clients before and after your session. Engage with the culture where you work out. The more you support the culture of where you work out, the more that culture has a chance to build. And you’ll find yourself rooted in the community. You never know what else someone is going through, so build space in your exercise environment to support one another and engage in friendly and meaningful conversations.

Ask Questions and Reach Out When Needed

Share your whole journey with your trainer and your loved ones. Tell them about your successes and your challenges. Ask questions when you feel uncertain and keep the conversation going. The more you focus on reaching your goals and taking one step further each day, the more likely you are to set your mental focus on those goals and reach them.

Join a Support Group

There are so many ways to engage with support groups these days. Whether it’s online or in person, do some research to see if you can find the support group you need for your specific fitness reasons and goals. Share your story with the group and engage with others’ stories as well. Spend time with one another in the details of your journeys and watch how that support walks every one of you closer to your goals.

At the end of the day, you are never alone in your corrective exercise or fitness journey. Reach out when you need support and ask for the help you need.
