Food: We literally are what we eat

Learn: Basic 4 Nutrition Tips To Help You Eat Nourishing Foods

How we look and feel is a byproduct of how we treat ourselves, how we love ourselves, and how we nourish ourselves.

The bottom line is:

  • Eat WHOLE FOODS, that give you energy, vibrant skin and a strong body.
  • Does how you’re eating fit a sustainable lifestyle for you?

Learn: Basic 4 Nutrition Tips To Help You Eat Nourishing Foods

1. Start With Protein

When planning your meals. Always start with your protein!

  • Protein supports many essential body functions, including repair and regrowth of muscle tissue, hormone and enzyme function, cognitive function and your immune system function.
  • When you don’t eat enough protein, your body breaks down your muscle tissue.
  • You will feel more full. Protein is more filling than carbs!
  • As we age, we don’t absorb amino acids from protein as much as we used to, so it’s important to UP OUR PROTEIN.
  • If you are over 40 it is super important to get between 30-40 grams per meal.
  • If you can’t maintain 30-40 grams per meal you can always supplement with a protein powder.

2. Add Fiber-Rich Carbs

Not all CARBS are created equal! We want to make sure they come from WHOLE FOOD sources, as close to natural form as possible!  We need carbs for energy to get into our optimal “fat-burn” mode. Fiber is super important for a healthy gut and digestion. In addition, carbs are your energy source for focus and concentration.

  • Grains: Rice, Quinoa, oats
  • Legumes: Beans, lentils, peas
  • Starchy veg: Sweet potatoes, beets, squash, yams

3. Include Healthy Fats

The benefit of healthy fat:

  • Long lasting energy
  • Stabilize blood sugar
  • Feel full longer
  • Reduce inflammation (Omega 3’s)
  • Produces and regulates hormones.
  • Avocado, nuts & seeds, coconut oil, olive oil

4. Eat Your Greens!

Last but MOST IMPORTANT, EAT YOUR GREENS! Greens are the peanut butter to your jelly. They kind of pull it all together. They enhance the actions of your protein, carbs,  healthy fats, and also aid in digestion.
